Bad news from down under: l'unico liberal che ci piace ha qualche problema

Opposition leader Kevin Rudd has overtaken conservative Prime Minister John Howard as the person Australians most want to lead the country, according to an opinion poll.
The ACNielsen poll published in the Sydney Morning Herald found that Rudd, who leads the left-of-centre Australian Labor Party, is the most popular opposition leader in 35 years, with an approval rating of 65 pct. He is also the first Labor leader in more than five years to supplant Howard as preferred prime minister, it said. Asked who they wanted as prime minister, 48 pct of the 1,412 voters polled answered Rudd and 43 pct said Howard. Nine pct were undecided. On a two-party preferred basis, which strips out the influence of minor parties, Labor was ahead of the coalition Liberal/National government 58 to 42 pct. -- Bernama-XFN-ASIA
